We dressed up this week as part of our Halloween FUN! Ms. Jenny was Minnie Mouse & the kids looked adorable in their costumes!
Ms. Kelli, Wynter's Mom, came in to do the CUTEST flannel board story called, "The Chocolate Chip Ghost". The kids learned what would happen if the ghost drank "grape juice" or "carrots" instead of white milk. They really enjoyed having a "special visitor" telling them a FUN story- thanks Kelli!!!
I love flannel board stories!
I pulled out the train for a special treat this week. This is the first time we've done this and let's just say that they were EXCITED!!!! I had to write their names on the chalkboard to have some kind of order otherwise WWF would have resulted and the train would have been broken!
Here are the kids in their costumes doing the number walk:
(this week the prize was a sucker)
Ms. Cassy, Jonny's Mom, made these AMAZING treats! She carved jack'o lanterns out of oranges that were filled with cut up fruit. The spoon was pushed their the top of the orange with a felt green leaf on it to resemble the stem. She also made the CUTEST spiders, which the kids just loved! What a special week and what neat Mom's these kids have!
The kids made their names with sticker letters on their choice of Halloween symbols:
The kids made bats out of toilet paper tubes that I had spray painted black, cat puppets out of envelopes (we learned what ryhming words were with a cute cat poem),
and spiders out of egg cartons that I had spray painted black with 8 black fuzzy legs & googly eyes!
And the highlight of the week that started our week off just right was the field trip to "Gentry's Pumpkin Patch" on a big, yellow school bus owned and operated by Mr. Dev, the coolest bus driver around!!!!!
After Mr. Dev told us to the rules: to have lots of FUN, we sang Halloween songs on the way that were to the tune of Christmas songs. "The 12 days of Halloween" were especially fun as everyone had a part on the bus to sing by themselves. Mr. Dev had to sing the most since he was "and an old owl in a dead tree." (He changed the lyrics everytime and made us laugh)!
Those are magnetic letters all over the bus for making words and there is a bean bag section- how fun is this bus?
It was the PERFECT day for a farm trip. It had rained the night before, so it was fresh, overcast, and not crowded- the rain scared everyone else away!
They did a barn maze that was full of adventure at every turn:
They played on big ol' tire swings:
They chased hens around their pens:
They were really interested in the hens:
Heading over the bridge, past the port-o-pottys to the hay ride:
We saw cows & horses on our hayride & beautiful scenery & leaves:
Nothing like a big red barn to remind us that we're in beautiful Tennessee:
The trees were just turning bright colors:
The Gentry homestead: (I'm ready to move in)
I like this class picture, because it's in height order & there was a spider that was crawling up the wall that was scaring Nicholas. We are missing Will & Corteney.
They were all about to lose it after the picture, so luckily, I had enough "treats" in my bag for a distraction, so we sat and happily took a little break!
There's Will and his fun smile- it just took some candy!
The kiddos played in the corn, on the tractor playground equipment, and got to inside a mini log cabin and tepee. It was such a neat, beautiful farm to visit!
Bye Bye Gentry Farm- we'll be back!
LOVE this sky and that yellow truck:
The kids loved trying on the seat belts- here's safety Zac to show us how it's done:
And they LOVED the bean bags- some were ready for more action,
and some were pooped. (Henry was both)
Cute Finn, Will's little brother!
Mr. Dev played fun music that the kids enjoyed dancing to:
We went to Sonic for lunch! Yummy!
The kids enjoyed sitting in the bus driver's seat & honking that big horn!
The cool glasses we got from Sonic:
What a great field trip! BIG thanks to Mr. Dev for taking us on the BEST field trip ever and for all the kids and parents who came- it was AWESOME!!!
He's the MAN!
