PRE-SCHOOL UPDATE WEEK 10

This week we learned all about the letter D. D is for Doctor.

Thanks Corteney for lending us your doctor kits! The kids had a great time learning how to be doctors- how to check a heartbeat, how to make me feel better by giving me shots ("don't say Ow" said Tyler & Will- "the shots make you feel better"), how to check blood pressure, and how to check my throat, ears, nose & eyes. I had fun being the patient.

While Will played dinosaurs, Rick gave him a shot on his head. They loved just to walk around giving out shots to anyone and on any part of their body. Sometimes it really irritated the kids- "Hey, I don't want a shot."

See- here's Nicholas checking Will's heartbeat as he plays dinosaurs. It made me laugh to see how serious they played "Doctor".
I think they will all make great doctors!

This week we also played & explored all about dinosaurs. Owen brought a huge collection of his dinosaurs over and the kids enjoyed learning their names and what they like to eat. We read some fun books about "The Super Hungry Dinosaur", and "The Dinosaur Who Lived in My Backyard".
We pretended that we were dinosaurs as we flapped like a Pteranodon, stomped like a Triceratops, chomped like a T-Rex, etc.
We painted & colored dinosaur pictures:

I set up a dinosaur stage with a desert, lake, & plants to eat. We role played what the dinosaurs did all day.

I love this picture of Owen reading a dinosaur book all by himself:
Corteney & Jonny are always playing and role playing families. "You be the Mommy Dinosaur and I'll be the Daddy Dinosaur."

Henry was attached to this Pteranodon:

We sorted the dinosaurs by BIG, Medium, & Small and counted them to find out which pile had the most.

When we went outside we dug in the sandbox for dinosaurs and made dinosaur footprints with potato stamps.

Donovan's face is priceless:

We practiced our letters by matching them to their shapes.

We also played the Drums like an Indian. We used all sorts of pots & pans & kitchen utensils for exploration of different types of noises. We practiced beating our Drums on a beat and sometimes the beat would go fast and sometimes it would go slow.

Rick was REALLY into it!!! :)

And they all still LOVE to dress up like pirates everyday!

We continue to practice our names!
