T is for Triangle & Tee Pee
This week we focused on the letter T and mostly for the sake of turkeys.
We used shapes to create turkeys and "super turbo" turkeys and "gigantic" turkeys.
For ABC practice this week, we matched capital and lowercase letters and counted our matches.
We made turkeys with brown bags and our traced hands. We hid our turkeys and went on a turkey hunt and we sang songs with our turkeys. We learned how to gobble and wobble. We read lots of stories about Thanksgiving!
We also talked about food and helping others by reading and acting out "The Little Red Hen". We learned that we have to help if we want to have the reward or food in this case.
They helped me turn our white pumpkin into a turkey.
GOBBLE, GOBBLE
We played a game of pin the hat on the turkey.
We put the turkeys on the wall for decoration- I love how colorful they are!
We dressed up like Indians and played in the Tee Pee Tent.
They love wearing these masks and acting the story out!
Ms. Kelli, Wynter's Mom, is a crafty, crafty lady and is always making cute things and bringing them in to share with the pre-school.
Here is the feathered turkey she made. Each kid got a feather and when she called out the color, the kids got to come and button the feather on the turkey to spell the word "THANKS"!
he also made this cute oven and we "cooked Thanksgiving dinner".
And she told a flannel board story about finding a turkey with directional and positional words: around, through, over, under, etc.
We went on a turkey hunt to find turkeys with numbers on them. Then, each kid had to put that number of feathers on the turkey.
We also made a thank you plate for Fireman Strawberry (Zac's Dad) and one for Mr. Dev, the bus driver, for helping us with our great field trips!
We colored turkeys with markers and I wrote what each kid was thankful for.
"I am thankful for Jesus, the whole earth, my Mommy and Daddy, for you Ms. Jenny & Tyler" - aw- thanks Jonny!
Ms. Kelli, Wynter's Mom, made these adorable turkey cookies for the snack!
These adorable turkeys were made with love from Ms. Jenny & Tyler. We gave each of the kiddos one as our Thanksgiving gift. Thanks to Ms. Shannon, Donovan's Mom, for the big, prickly, beautiful pinecones!
The BEST activity of the week though was inventing the game: "Turkey Tag". The 4 year olds were cold when the weather took a dip at the beginning of last week (Monday), so to keep warm, I invented turkey tag. The kids had to run from fence to fence without getting caught. They had to wait until I said, "GOBBLE" and then they could run. I tricked them with all sorts of funny words. I also invented the words, "Turkey POWER" where we put our hands in the center and raised them while saying it. The kids LOVED this game and want to play it every time!
The nice thing is that it kept us very warm!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
