Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Well, Mom and Dad arrived this past Thursday and they decided to hang out with the kids while Aaron and I flew to Florida to participate in the Inaugural Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Friday morning, we kissed the kids goodbye and we were off to Huntsville. After and little car trouble (our radiator lost a hose and emptied all over the highway) we made it to the airport and we off to Orlando. We landed on time and took the Magical Express to our resort--Port Orleans-Riverside Resort. They sold out of King size beds (which I'm sure I had one reserved) and so Aaron and I ended up with two double beds. We thought that we could just put the beds together but realized it wouldn't work and we decided to snuggle together instead. Friday night was our first trial run with our Halloween costumes. We went to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and were Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa. It took us a few months to piece the costumes together but we were both very happy with the results. When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom we were stopped ALL the time to have our picture taken with other guests. It was very flattering but it was Aaron that was the show stopper, he looked great! I have some pictures coming in the mail but here is one from another night. We decided not to bring our camera because neither of us had anywhere to hold it. We enjoyed walking around and talking to other guests. They would ask where we got our costumes and if we worked at the park. (They aren't very good fans if they didn't know Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't Disney) We went on a few rides but mainly the slower ones because we thought we would both lose our wigs. The Halloween parade was something we wanted to see and we got the BEST spot on the route. When we go back in September we are definitely staking out that spot. Anyway, while we were watching the parade, a pirate float came down the lane and on top was Captain Jack Sparrow. He was waving to the other side of the street and then turned just in time to look at Aaron. He laughed and lipped "I know you!" as he was pointing to Aaron. The people around us laughed and we thought that was a very nice compliment. After the parade we decided to head back to our resort because the Half Marathon was the following evening and we didn't want to be too tired. Saturday morning we went to a very nice breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian and it is another restaurant that I want to visit again. Mary Poppins was the hostess and she was very nice. We also got to meet the Mad Hatter, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger. Alice was around but we didn't wait to meet her. The rest of the day we walked around and played some Miniature Golf (which I won). After, we decided to eat some pasta back at our room. Our resort cafeteria had a create-your-own pasta bowl and mine was delicious. Around 7 we loaded up onto a bus that took us to the starting line of the Half Marathon. We were there pretty early so we decided to stand in line and wait to take a photo with the official sign. Aaron had to go on another bus that took him to the exchange point to wait for me to run to him so he could cross the finish line. Aaron didn't want the camera so I have a picture from the beginning of the race. The race was really fun, I finished my part and then took a bus to the after party where I met up with Aaron. We decided that our meet-up spot would be the fountain at the Morocco pavilion. That area was closed but these two very nice ladies let me sit on the fountain because I told them that was my meet up spot with my husband and we don't want to get separated. They understood and I sat there and waited for Aaron to arrive. I was minding my own business when these two people came up behind me and shouted Hi! It startled me and I turned around to see Jasmine and Aladdin. I said Oh hello and off they went. I told Aaron that story and laughed for five minutes. Aaron finally arrived and when I say him he looked really tired. Once we rested for a bit we both felt much better and decided to walk around the world showcase. By the time we got to China we were both ready to go back to the hotel. As we were leaving I saw Mulan and told Aaron that I wanted one picture with her. She was funny and told me that we needed to do a "tough girl" pose. I agreed and we both flexed our non-existent muscles. The next morning we got up and went to Downtown Disney where we looked in the Christmas shop but didn't see anything new for our tree this year. Then we went back to our hotel and we got little presents for the kids. The trip was so much fun and we are so grateful to have wonderful Grandparents who watched our kids that weekend so we could have some time alone. Thanks Mom and Dad!
