Gwendolyn Bay Hart

Happy Birthday to you! Gwendolyn Bay Hart 8lbs. 8oz. 20 1/2 inches long Baby number four is finally here! I waited as patiently as I could but I finally caved in and scheduled an induction for today. I would have preferred to go into labor on my own but again, I am not that patient. So this is pretty much what happened today before I forget some of the details. My doctor, Dr. Mullaly, asked Aaron and I to be at Williamson Medical Center at 6:00am to check in and get going. Aaron and I arrived on time and we were admitted around 6:30. Aaron and I got settled into the room but he couldn't stay long since the other kids had to get ready for school. We spent that half hour searching the Internet for names and mainly looking for the weirdest ones possible. It was a trip looking through so many names and having a good laugh. Aaron left around 7:05 to take the kids to school and I got myself situated in a robe and hooked up to an IV. The nurse came in around 8:30ish and started the pitocin, then I waited, and waited. Around 9 I asked Aaron where he was and he was debating on going to IHop or Hardee's. I told him he could do Hardee's but he doesn't have time for IHop and he can't bring anything here. He got back around 9:45 and then we waited, and waited. I wasn't feeling too hot and thought that if I was going to have an epidural then I need to get it sooner than later and enjoy myself. I was dilated to 3/4 and said let's do it so I can get some sleep. The epidural wasn't that fun this time. The doctor doing it was having a tuff time getting my spine to line up how she wanted so I was sitting up for about a half hour just trying to be in the right position for her to start the epidural process. She kept apologizing about taking her time and that this was the most important part so she didn't want to rush and I couldn't move because it could be serious if I move. Now don't ask me why, maybe it was nerves or maybe not but at that moment Kaley came to my mind and I started to tear up while they were holding me still. They assumed that I was scared and I let them considering that I would rather not have to explain the real reasons why. But that delayed it as well because they wanted me to compose myself before they moved forward. Anyway, I pulled myself together and the epidural was finally in. The doc came in shortly after and broke my water and checked me again. I was still at a 3/4 so I figured we were going to be a while. As the doctor left I got a phone call from Roxy and Dono's school. Nurse Margie called to let me know that Donovan has head lice. I told Aaron the news and he just stared at me in disbelief and kept saying "are you kidding me?" I called Linda up and she told Aaron and I not to worry about and she will take care of it. The nurse came in around noon to check on me and I didn't change at all. All I could think of was "this is going to be an all day thing afterall." I went back to sleep and about 30 minutes later I was woken up by and extremely painful cramp. I had to grab the bed and force myself not to yell. I felt like I was constipated and really needed to use the bathroom. Hat feeling mixed with sharp pain and I decided to call the nurse and see what's up. She came in a few moments later and checked. The baby was right there ready to go so she ran outside and called the doc telling her she needed to come right now or she would miss it. All I could think of was pushing but the nurse told me that was a bad idea right now and I needed to wait a moment so she could set up. I just looked at Aaron and asked him to hold my hand so I could concentrate on something else. I thought about trying to squeeze Aaron's hand so hard that I bring him to his knees in pain. Of course I didn't do that but I gave it my best shot. The doctor finally arrived and she gave me the go to start pushing. I had to push about four or five times before Gwen finally came out. The whole time I was in so much pain and felt EVERYTHING except the contractions. It felt a lot better once Gwenney came out but not all of the pain was gone. They put her on my tummy but I asked them to move her out of fear that I may drop her. I grabbed Aaron again and kept saying that it still hurt very badly and then a few seconds later the placenta came out and that's when all the pressure and pain subsided. Much better! Aaron asked how I was feeling and I told him that this birth hurt the worst but it was another unique experience. I didn't think that would be possible since this was #4 but every single birth I've been through was different so there is no preparing I could have done to change the experience and it's alright. So Gwendolyn was born at 12:43 pm and the best surprise is that she has a full head of dark brown hair! All that heart burn payed off and I finally have a daughter who is a brunette! As soon as Gwenney was born Aaron took some photos and held her for a while but couldn't stay too long since Dono and Roxt needed him at home. He got home and let me know that Jojo also has lice so he had a lot of work ahead of him. I am just so happy and thankful that Aaron and his mother and his aunt are taking care of business while I am here at the hospital. I am going home on Saurday which will be great but for now I'm going to relax and enjoy this time with my new little Gwenney Bay.
