Preschool Update—Week 16 & 17

What are these kiddos doing with a paper plate around their heads?
Well, their SNOWMEN of course!!
We couldn't have put our theme SNOW on a better week, because we actually got real SNOW outside, which made learning all about SNOW easier to do!
Here the kids are singing, "Once Upon A Snowman". We did it normal speed, fast speed, and really slow speed.

I love how they melt:

The kids were excited to be in pre-school with all of Tyler's new Christmas toys!!
The cool red rocket ready to blast off to dinosaur planet or to the moon- the skies the limit with this cool, new toy! We're going to be learning about the moon, sun, stars, & planets next week, so this Rocket will come in handy!

The kids are getting better at sharing and know what it means when I say, "we need to take turns." They then will organize themselves of who goes first, second, third and who is after whom. It's great to see sharing amongst friends!
Here they are racing their race cars:

We learned all about the letter S and acted out things that start with S:
1. We had a snowball fight with cotton balls.
2. We read snow stories.

3. We acted out building a snowman, ice skating, making snow angels, having a snowball fight and learned how to FREEZE when I held up the STOP sign.

4. We acted like snakes and made the "SSSSSSSS" sound.
5. To get our wiggles out, we played "Simon Says" and marched around the house with our instruments to music. We took turns being the leader.
6. We played lots of puzzles and helped each other put together the number train puzzle, the letter train puzzle, and other hard puzzles.
7. I did a felt story about "Sadie and her snowman" and we talked about big and small. We then made our own marshmallow snowmen with big marshmallows and small marshmallows.

8. We learned all about snowflakes and acted out how they fall to the ground silently.
9. Here they are throwing snowballs into egg cartons that have numbers and shapes in them.

Here are the cute snowmen again:

We played Play-Doh since it's been so cold to really go outside and play. They really enjoyed cutting the play-doh with scissors, making snowmen (rolling balls) and making spaghetti and snakes out of their play-doh.

They made their own weather charts to keep track at home of the crazy Tennessee weather! Post this on your refrigerator or tape it to their bedroom door and let them tell you what the weather is and how they should dress that day.

We made snowmen magnets:

Here's a snowflake that you can eat:
You just need a tortilla, butter, and powdered sugar (the snow):

The 4 year olds did a dot-to-dot of Martin Luther King, Jr. since they came on his holiday and are still practicing the letters of their names with stickers and writing it with markers:

They also did a wintry maze:

and practiced tracing the capitol letters of the alphabet:

Suzette and her family made us some beautiful snowflakes for decoration:
(THANK YOU!!!)

We had an Igloo in the reading corner to play and read in:

And we had a trampoline to jump around on to get our wiggles out since it's been so cold. I love seeing their "tricks"!

We sorted shapes by colors. We do lots of sorting buttons by color, shape, and are starting to learn about patterns- red, black, red, black. And we always count everyday!
