Well, another Christmas is in the books. Aaron and I were planning this way before Donovan’s birthday. Now it will be hard to avoid stores in general instead of constantly visiting them hoping for better deals. The Advent calendar was the star this year. On December 1st Donovan put up the first ornament on our felt tree and they have been hooked all month. “We have to do the tree!!!” “What about the tree?” That was all I heard this whole month. Last night we put the second to last ornament on our little calendar and the kids were ecstatic. They could hardly contain themselves. Getting them to bed was tricky but it finally happened and Aaron and I started our battle with the Mansion. Well…MY battle with the mansion. Aaron was awake for morale support but it took me about three and a half hours to assemble that blasted house. We finally went to bed around 3 in the morning after setting everything up and it was around 7:30 and we finally heard something. Roxy had went to the bathroom and then returned to her bed! Aaron and I were stunned! Where was everyone? They are always awake and in our room by 7 every single day!!! I decided to look and see what Roxy was doing and when I came into her room she shot out of bed and asked “Is it Christmas now?”
I told her of course but we need to wait for Jordyn and Donovan to wake up. As if on cue, Jordyn looked up at us with a huge grin and climbed out of her bed. We went into our room and snuggled under the covers while waiting for Donovan to appear. Twenty minutes later and still no Donovan. Roxy finally went into his bedroom and woke him up. I went downstairs so I can take pictures of the kids when they saw their presents
That was a lot of fun to watch their reactions. Everyone was opening their gifts and Roxy wants me to write that I opened my present from Daddy and it was a Pandora bracelet with charms for everyone in our family. She wanted me to say that because when I opened the gift it made me tear up. Yes…I cried and I admit it because it was a very thoughtful gift. Aaron had to follow clues to his present.
We put a strip of paper in a box under the tree to have him open and then he had to follow the clues around the house to find the final hiding place of his actual gift. He had fun with that and the kids did too! We went over to David’s house for dinner and then headed home to play with our presents. Church was cancelled due to bad weather so we were snowed in all weekend. Nobody noticed, we were all happy and warm and together. What else could anyone want???
