Hip Hip Hooray for Shaver!

Every year we have one vacation that we look forward to going on and every year it is never a disappointment. Shaver lake has been a family destination since 1998 (at least I think it was, my family will correct me if I'm wrong). We have gone there every summer and have always had a great time! When Aaron and I got married in 2001 Shaver lake was our first vacation after our honeymoon. It's almost a right of passage with our family and that is where you receive your stamp of approval from the entire Taylor family. Aaron received his when he went out into the woods to gather some firewood and came back with an entire forest! This year Kaley's new husband Jeff received his stamp when he carried Grandma to and from the boat. Way to go Jeff! We stayed in a beautiful four bedroom house with Kim, Chris, Dillan, Leah, Chad, Lindsie, Durley, Mom, Dad, and my family. Each little family had one room to themselves and it was great to have a nice bed to come back to when we are at the lake all day long. Kim came up with a great idea this year and created a pirate adventure for all the little kids in our group. She had a treasure chest and filled it with all sorts of goodies then hid it on the beach and let the kids search for it. The next two days we drew maps of the beach we were on and let the kids follow the path to where "X" marks the spot. They had a great time and Kim did a great job putting it all together. Mom and Dad sold their waverunners this year but they weren't missed because of Papa's new boat that everyone loved! Roxy decided that this year she would try some wakeboarding behind Papa's boat. She didn't want to do it alone so uncle Chad had Roxy stand between his legs and they wake boarded together! She absolutely loved it and wanted to do it again and again and again. Next, Roxy and her cousin Dillan decided to try some knee boarding but they weren't able to do it alone. So Aaron held on the back of Roxy's board and was towed behind her so he could keep it steady. It was so much fun that Donovan decided that it was his turn and he went on the board with Daddy too! At first he was very nervous but after a few moments on the board, he was smiling and put his hands in the air! It's so much fun to see Roxy, Donovan, and Jordyn experience new things every single day. Donovan really enjoyed playing with the sand toys while Jordyn liked eating the sand. I hope that next year Jordyn will be out of the "eating sand" phase and on to "playing in the sand" phase by next Shaver. I had a great time catching up with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins and see how everyone has been and what they've been up to this past year. It's amazing what can happen in a year. Overall, this was another great Shaver Lake trip in the books and only 363 days till the next trip!
