Girls Camp

I had the opportunity to go to Girl's camp this past week and it was so much fun!!! First of all, let me just say that if I had to describe the week in one word it would be HOT! I was melting and I wasn't the only one who felt this way. I went to camp as the 2nd year certification leader and general helper to everyone else. I spent about an hour and a half doing the certification and the rest of the time I went to my two favorite places... crafts and the ropes course. I had fun making crafts with the girls but after a while I was forced to leave because I had a line of girls asking me to draw something for them on their craft and I never finished my own. Trust me, I didn't mind and I enjoyed helping them out with their own. The crafts were covering little Book of Mormons and composition books and making a wooden S.M.I.L.E for your room. SMILE was our theme for camp meaning--Service, Motivate, Improve, Love, Endure. After craft I would head over to the ropes course where I helped the girls put their harnesses on and guided them through the course. I was able to go down the repelling wall "aussie style" once and do the zip line upside down (aussie style means face first). I also tried out the Pamper pole. It was called the pamper pole because once you climbed to the top then you need to wear pampers in order to get down (because it's sooo scary). Fortunately, none of the girls needed to change their clothes after they jumped off the pole.
The last day the zip line broke but thankfully no one got hurt and we just had to guide them to the repelling wall instead to get down. My buddy Kathy was at camp as one of the cooks so she looked out for me when it came to the fruit salad. I got my own little bowl of fruit (melon free) every meal thanks to her! She rocked and I just wanted to thank her for doing that for me. Once we were done with dinner I went to the evening festivities and once those were over I bolted to the showers and took a freezing cold shower just to get some relief from the heat. It lasted for about an hour and then I was miserable all over again. By then I was miserable in my bunk but hey, it's camping right? Overall, I loved the week and I hope that they want me to come back next year!
