Swim Team

Roxann started her swim team this past Monday and has loved every second of her practices. They assign each kid under 10 with a "buddy" who is 10 and over and they work together for the first hour of practice. Bella is Roxy's buddy and she is a very patient little girl. Roxy decided that she no longer wanted me to put her hair in a ponytail but wear her purple hat instead. I told her that it was fine with me so I helped her put her swim cap on for the first time. Within 10 seconds she wanted to take it off. I told her that either she wears her cap or she gets a ponytail. She decided to wear the cap and liked it more and more once her friends put theirs on as well. I got to enjoy my Birthday present at the pool (my Nook) while Roxann was playing with her buddies. Man I love that Nook because I got to read and play sudoku all on one little notebook. Anyway, back to Roxann's swimming lesson adventure. About three-quarters into practice Roxann came up to me crying saying that she was very frustrated with swimming and didn't like people passing her. I told her that swim team is all about racing other kids. Sadly for Roxann she has a very competitive Mommy and Daddy so she was doomed with that trait from the beginning. Roxann can't hold her breath for very long so she had to keep coming up for air and that really slowed her down. She felt better once they moved on to a new drill that she was better at and she really thrived. I was laughing while I was taking these pictures because of how Roxy looks in her cap. She is so darn cute!!!!!! We had to leave right after swim team to go to the gym and then ran over to Fanatastic Sam's for a haircut. It has been a very busy morning and once Roxann's tutoring and my school start back up it will only get busier and busier for us.
