Florida weekend Part 1

Well, we made it all the way to Florida in one piece. The trip was actually pretty smooth considering that Donovan was ill and only vomited once in the car. We were able to test out our new DVD system so Roxy is excited to get in the car now. We spent most of Thursday lounging around the Scott's really nice pool. Donovan had to show off some moves and Pumbaa nearly drowned because he couldn't get his huge fanny out of the water.  Today, Friday, was a very eventful time for us. We were able to drop in on Grandma Dorothy this morning and introduce her to Jordyn and let her see how big Roxy and Donovan are now. She looks really good and seems to be pretty happy where she is.  She seemed to enjoy the kids and was even able to say the kid's names without to much strain. Right when we finished our visit it started raining like crazy and all I could think of is how can people vacation here during this weather?
After we ate a very tasty lunch made by the talented Linda, we headed to Manatee Springs State Park and found out that Donovan and Roxy would rather play in a pool than at the natural springs.
When we arrived, the kids were so excited and couldn't wait to jump into the crystal clear water. Once they felt
the 72 degree water....they were ready to go home. Aaron and I were able to do a little snorkeling before we had to leave. We were sitting in the water talking when all these people started yelling and pointing at the water next to us. If we were in the ocean, I would have been freaking out that there was a shark next to me. It wasn't a shark... it was a Manatee. We were blown away at how close it was to us. Aaron yelled at me to come
and look at it but Roxy didn't know what it was so she decided to sit this one out. I decided to follow Aaron and we headed into the middle of the spring. I looked to my left and was face to face with this Manatee. He was about three feet in front of me and I started to get nervous because he was coming right at me and I didn't know if he saw more or care if he saw me. So I slowly swam to the side and let him slowly swim by me. I could have touch him but my first thought was "don't touch him, you could hurt him." Looking back on that thought, it was pretty silly but I don't regret it. I was always told not to touch wild animals and as this beautiful creature swam by me, these stereotypical mullet sporting hicks came swimming by yelling at me to "grab that Manatee!" And they started swimming after this animal and probably scared it to death. Aaron couldn't believe that we actually saw a Manatee in the springs.
I just wish that I had a waterproof camera and take pictures. So far this trip is great and I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us.
