(Fireman Will above all ready to learn about fire safety!)
We ended this week with an awesome fire safety lesson from Fireman Strawberry, "Zac's Dad". He brought his fire truck, put on his fireman outfit, and let the kids climb on his truck and honk the horn. He brought hats for the kiddos & stickers & tattoos!
Thank you so much Fireman Strawberry for teaching us important safety rules!!
The 3 & 4 year olds were listening so well and this is what the parents/grandparents were doing! Ha ha ha! (I guess fire safety only applies to 3 & 4 year olds :)!!!)
We gathered at my neighborhood's pool/park area, so that I wouldn't cause a ruckus with my neighbors, but seriously, how cool is it that the fire truck came pre-school? Too cool!!!
He made sure the kids cold hear how he breathed and made sure that they weren't afraid of him. We yelled, "HELP, HELP" as loud as we could until he could hear us!
Firemen wear big red hats,
Climb up ladders and rescue cats.
Checking out the truck. Jonny & Tyler had a blast honking the horn!
The kids made a collage of Fall colors with Felt to make a fall "F" tree (lopsided one) and a Fire.
I taught fire safety with books, songs, fire truck toys, and we practiced STOP, DROP, AND ROLL. Donovan was my role model.
I learned very after the first day to make sure I only let one kid stop, drop, and roll at a time. The 4 year olds all did it together the first day and we had some minor collisions. One at a time worked much better.
Fire Chief Nicholas not so sure about the hat I put on him.
Since we've learned the letters A, B, and F, I let them watch those letters on this Great DVD that I borrowed from the library. It was a DVD that my cousin had sworn by to learn letters and their sounds and I have to say that I was impressed. It even gave me some ideas!

The 3 year olds sorted the letters by colors. Jonny had done them in rows by colors all by himself one morning- impressive! He's a collector and organizer!
Here are all of the things that start with F in my house:
We water colored pictures about fire safety. (Tyler only likes to paint with one color: black)
We made fire trucks snacks with graham crackers, red frosting, and small oreo cookies for the wheels.
The 4 year olds eating their yummy snack!
We made fire trucks out of egg cartons. They turned out so, so cute!
At the beginning of the week, we finished talking about fall by
cracking acorns and seeing what's inside and singing, "I'm a nut" songs.
We put the numbers from 1-10 in order, learned the parts of a tree, sang an apple song, "5 Rosie apples hanging from the tree", and learned all about fire safety here. I love my felt board.
Both classes created a group project- making a tree out of noodles & fall stickers (leaves and pumpkins). They turned out so cute and they did a great job working together on this!
To keep things interesting and fresh, I moved around the furniture & toys in the dining room where we first start out. I always switch the toys every week and the kids enjoy it!
Pre-school is going great! Now time to start the Halloween Festivities!
